ICYMI: Building Trades, Ron Miller Go National

Aug. 18, 2017 - Be sure to check out the link below to the New York Times story on the terrific new USC Village project that opened recently across the street from the main campus south of downtown Los Angeles.

The project was completed under a Project Labor Agreement between USC and the State Building and Construction Trades Council. The story gets into it in the 12th through the 14th paragraphs, about how it put 4,000 of our members to work, including 38  percent of whom lived within five miles of USC.

The national newspaper of record quoted Ron Miller, the Executive Secretary of the Los Angeles/Orange Counties Building and Construction Trades Council, as saying:

“We saw it as, we’re going to do a project where we offer the local community an opportunity to get into our trades. That’s a well-paying career. Irt will allow them to stay in the area, maybe afford to buy a house, send their kids to school.”
