Health and Safety Conference in Berkeley For Workers, Organizers, Business Reps

September 29, 2014 - The Labor Occupational Health Program (LOHP), Worksafe, and other organizations are co-sponsoring a one-day conference on workplace health and safety in Berkeley, on Saturday, November 8. The State Building and Construction Trades Council (SBCTC) has partnered with these organizations for many years and can vouch for their top-notch training programs.

The conference, titled “Taking Action for Safe, Just and Healthy Workplaces,” will offer a variety of workshops focused on using health and safety as an organizing tool, and how to take effective action to fight for safe worksites. The SBCTC’s Laura Boatman will be a co-presenter of “How to Identify and Prevent Chemical Hazards.” Other topics include: building health and safety committees, workplace retaliation, identifying and documenting hazards, using Cal-OSHA successfully, and more.

This conference is designed for rank-and file workers and organizers. It is located at Berkeley City College. Registration is only $25.
