How Does Our TOT Differ From Other Safety Training?

Many people ask how our course differs from OSHA 10 and 30 hour training they've already received. Our TOT focuses on helping you understand the big picture of what's happening to workers within our industry and prepare you to implement safety training on the job.

It isn't enough to know the standards and safe practices if you cannot communicate them or use them effectively on the job. We provide this information but take it one step further to the realities of construction worksites, how to use your experience and training to make changes that improve the working conditions at the site. We work together to learn how to facilitate difficult situations and work with contractors and union leaders to find solutions that prevent injuries and save lives.

Our teaching style is very interactive, using lecture, role-playing, small group exercises, practice teaching, peer feedback, guest speakers and question and answer sessions. The course includes material specific to California such as actual case studies and discussion of California standards that are different from any other state. Our training includes segments on adult learning and teaching techniques to prepare the student to train others. We offer the opportunity to network with people from different trades to problem solve and share information. In the long-term you can use your training to become a health and safety resource person for your union or employer.
